Punches

RingsideReady

Rear uppercut

Take this slowly, stay balanced, and ask your coach when something feels unclear.

number

6

stance note

Thrown with the rear hand, the “six”. The heavier of the two uppercuts.

weight transfer

A dip and drive through the back leg, with the hip rotating forward as the punch travels up.

hand path

Elbow close to the ribs, palm toward you, travelling up the centre. Short and compact.

chin and guard

The lead hand stays at the cheek, and the chin stays tucked — this is a punch thrown at close range.

common mistake

Leaning back to make room, which takes your base out from under the punch.

one cue

Short travel, legs underneath it.
