Rear hook
Take this slowly, stay balanced, and ask your coach when something feels unclear.
number
4
stance note
Thrown with the rear hand, the “four”. It travels further than the lead hook, so it takes longer to arrive.
weight transfer
A full turn through the back foot and hip, with the weight driving from the back foot forward and around.
hand path
Elbow bent, travelling in an arc, staying in front of the line of your shoulder. It is a close-to-mid range punch, not a long one.
chin and guard
The lead hand stays up as the rear hand comes across, and the chin stays down through the turn.
common mistake
Winding the hand back before throwing, which both telegraphs the punch and opens your own guard.
one cue
Keep the elbow in front of the shoulder.
