Jab
Take this slowly, stay balanced, and ask your coach when something feels unclear.
number
1
stance note
Thrown with the lead hand — left in orthodox, right in southpaw. Coaches call it “one” whichever stance you are in.
weight transfer
Barely any. A small push off the back foot and a short step with the lead foot if you need the distance. Your weight stays centred so you can throw it again straight away.
hand path
Straight out from your cheek along the shortest line, palm turning down as it lands, then straight back along the same line. The elbow stays under the fist rather than flaring out.
chin and guard
The rear hand stays glued to your cheek the whole time, and your chin tucks behind your lead shoulder as the arm extends.
common mistake
Letting the hand drop on the way back, so it loops down and leaves the side of your head open.
one cue
Out and back along the same line — fast back, not just fast out.
