Cross
Take this slowly, stay balanced, and ask your coach when something feels unclear.
number
2
stance note
Thrown with the rear hand. It is the “two”, and it is the punch that teaches you where power comes from.
weight transfer
This is the big one. The back foot pivots as if putting out a cigarette, the hip turns through, and your weight moves from the back foot toward the front.
hand path
Straight from your cheek across your body, the shoulder coming up to your jaw as the arm extends. It returns along the same line.
chin and guard
The lead hand stays home at your cheek while the rear hand works, and the rear shoulder covers your chin at full extension.
common mistake
Leaving the back heel flat on the floor, which turns it into an arm punch and leaves your shoulders square.
one cue
Turn the back foot, and the punch turns with it.
