Take this slowly, stay balanced, and ask your coach when something feels unclear.

Holding the other person so neither of you can punch freely. A referee will break it. It is a pause, not a wrestling match.

If someone is on top of you, a high clinch can stop clean shots until the referee says break.
why it matters
You will see it in every fight. In a class, do not practice clinching unless a coach is running it — it is easy to get messy and unsafe.
