summary
The staggered, side-on position everything else is built on. Feet about shoulder-width apart and one stride deep, knees soft, weight even.
steps
- • Stand with your feet together, then step your lead foot forward about one stride and let your back heel lift slightly.
- • Turn your back foot out to roughly forty-five degrees. Your hips and shoulders end up side-on, not square.
- • Soften both knees. If your legs are locked straight you cannot move or absorb anything.
- • Check you can lift either foot without falling. If you cannot, your weight is too far onto one side.
